Vietnamese Leader Meeting With Bush.
WASHINGTON (AP) - In a meeting that marks a decade of normalized relations, Vietnamese Prime Minister Phan Van Khai is asking President Bush to help his nation join the World Trade Organization while Bush is raising concerns about human rights abuses.
The 71-year-old Vietnamese leader is meeting Bush in the Oval Office on Tuesday during a weeklong visit to the United States, where he is meeting with business leaders on both coasts. Khai is ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange later this week - evidence of Vietnam's economic gains over the years.
Phan Van Khai: "President Bush, I think this is a good time to bring our countries together in a new global millennium."
Bush: "That's great, but lemme ask you something there Phan--what's in the fish sauce?"
Phan Van Khai: "Vinnegar and a very...very..special sauce."
Bush: "Awww, come on buddy! Laura loves that stuff."
